Here is an analysis of a Marlboro cigarettes package in which he suggests they have made subliminal messages in their LOGO – warning you not to smoke! See if you can spot the 2 faces holding guns to their mouths:

XM Radio Subliminal Advert

Here is a video recorded on an amateur video camera by someone watching TV at home. He doesn’t pause the video and replay the subliminal message for you, but if you are quick you can catch it around the 0.44 second mark.

It is a very brief flash of the XM Radio logo during the drift scene motor sport show.

You may think it is too brief to make an impact, but this is a perfect example of subliminal messaging – it is even shorter than some of the other examples on this site and hard to pause exactly on it, but this is what makes a good subliminal advert, one that is too short for the conscious mind to be even aware of:

Subliminal Research – University Study on Apple Logo

Here is a research study into subliminal messaging conducted by Duke University.

They flash an image of the Apple logo for 30 milliseconds while participants are unaware of them. With the Apple logo being so strongly linked with creativity they wanted to see if participants who saw the subliminal Apple logo were more creative in later tasks..
Well I don’t want to give away the result so watch the video and find out, and see what Duke University thinks of subliminal adverts and perception:

Subliminal Advert on CNN

Here is a home DVD recording someone made of a news bulletin on american network TV channel CNN.

The messages flashes on for just a split of a second around the 11 second mark, so if you pause the video there you will see it:

New York Pizza Company Subliminal Advert

Here is a late night advert by the New York Pizza Company. They use a subliminal suggestion of cocaine to start with as well as lots of swearing and a gangster theme for good measure to help make the ad more memorable – controversy sells!

Kelloggs Frosties Advert Subliminal Messages

Here is a really popular advert from Kelloggs for their Frosties brand. It was everywhere in the UK a couple of summers ago, but this video exposes a darker side. When parts of the song are reversed some alarming subliminal messages are revealed:

So yeh, gimmie your t**s
Yes I’m evil
Go make sure there’s some p***y left for me

Subliminal Advert For Carles Jr Chilli Cheeseburger In Beauty and the Geek

Here is some real proof that subiminal messages are being used by the TV networks – here is a message that someone found during the middle of a TV program – “Beauty and The Geek”. For just a split second a subliminal logo of Carles Jr Chilli Cheeseburgers is flashed on the screen – just barely long enough to notice consciously:

1959 Chevrolet Impala – Classic Subliminal Advert

Here is an advert from 1959 for the new Chevrolet Impala – it is sung by Pat Boone and Dinah Shore. The idea of the advert was that it was openly subliminal – they sing a song about showing you the new car subliminally.

It wasn’t a real subliminal message as it is shown for a second at a time and it is visable to the naked eye without slowing the advert down, but this advert caused quite a lot of gossip at the time, and it seemed to do the trick anyway.

Swensens Ice Cream Subliminal Advert

Here is an advert from a Thai Ice Cream company Swensen’s – this advert was shown all over national TV in Thailand and Asia. Look carefully as the scooper takes a chunk of ice cream out – it leaves a mark on the ice cream in the shape of a naked woman:

Just another example of advertisers implanting suggestions of sex in their adverts – trying to get you to link sex to their brand in your mind.

Blackboard Cafe – Use of Subliminal Advertising

Here is an advert for a local bar somewhere. It is only quite short but they have used some subtle, and some not so subtle subliminal suggestions throughout. See if you can spot them (answers below):

The hotdog penis suggestion.
A sexual sigh in the toilets?
The waitress bending over to serve drinks at a suggestive angle to the pool cue behind her.
The girl appearing from under the counter at the end
